Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu

Highlights: Tachogang Lhakhang

  • Begin your journey with a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s vibrant capital.

  • Along the way, visit Tachogang Lhakhang (also known as the Temple of the Iron Bridge), a historic gem nestled amidst serene landscapes.

  • Spend the afternoon exploring Thimphu’s lively streets and handicraft markets, or simply relax at your hotel.

  • Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 2: Exploring Thimphu

Highlights: Buddha Dordenma, Buddha Point Nature Trail, Memorial Chorten, Thimphu Dzong, Institute of Astrology

  • Visit the towering Buddha Dordenma, a massive golden statue overlooking the valley.

  • Take a serene walk along Buddha Point Nature Trail, which begins from Buddha Dordenma. You will be walking along pines, birch and rhododendron trees, and along the trail, you will be greeted by prayer flags.

  • Visit the Memorial Chorten, an iconic landmark dedicated to Bhutan’s third king.

  • Continue your journey to Thimphu Dzong (also known as Tashicho Dzong). Admire the architectural grandeur of this fortress-monastery and learn about its significant role as both the religious and administrative center of the country, housing the offices of the King and government officials, as well as the monastic body.

  • Visit the Institute of Astrology to receive a personalised reading with a Bhutanese astrologer.

Day 3: Thimphu – Transfer to Punakha

Highlights: Dochula Pass, Punakha Dzong, Pho Chu Suspension Bridge, Chimi Lhakhang, Punakha Town

  • Drive to Punakha via the stunning Dochula Pass, where you will be treated to panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks, with 108 chortens adding a spiritual touch to the landscape.

  • Visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, a historic and architectural marvel located at the confluence of the Pho and Mo Chhu rivers. Learn about its historical significance and admire its intricate design.

  • Cross the Pho Chu Suspension Bridge, Bhutan's longest suspension bridge, for stunning views of the valley and the river below.

  • Explore Chimi Lhakhang (also known as the Temple of Fertility), nestled amidst picturesque fields.

  • Take time to explore the town of Punakha, soaking in its peaceful charm and scenic beauty.

Day 4: Punakha – Transfer to Phobjikha Valley

Highlights: Gangteng Monastery, Gangtey Valley, Black-necked Crane Museum

  • Enjoy a scenic drive through breathtaking landscapes as you make your way to the tranquil Phobjikha Valley.

  • Visit Gangteng Monastery, one of the largest monastery in Bhutan known for its spiritual significance. During winter, the black-necked cranes circle the monastery three times upon their arrival and again when returning to Tibet.

  • Embark on a serene hike through the Gangtey Valley, famous for its pristine beauty, calm atmosphere and stunning views of the surrounding mountains and meadows.

  • Visit the Black-necked Crane Museum to learn about the rare and endangered black-necked cranes that migrate to the valley each winter. The cranes can often be seen in the meadows of the valley during winter.

  • Overnight in Phobjikha.

Drive time: 2-3 hours

Day 5: Phobjikha – Transfer to Paro

Highlights: Paro Dzong, National Musuem of Bhutan, Paro Town

  • After breakfast, embark on your return journey to Paro, enjoying the scenic landscapes along the way.

  • Visit the majestic Paro Dzong (also known as Rinpung Dzong), a fortress-monastery offering beautiful views of the valley. Discover its historical significance as it houses both the district Monastic Body and the administrative offices of Paro Dzongkhag.

  • Explore the National Museum of Bhutan, where you can learn about the country's history and culture.

  • Stroll through the charming town of Paro. Shop for traditional crafts or take some time to relax and soak in the atmosphere.

  • Overnight in Paro.

Drive time: 4-5 hours

Day 6: Paro – Tiger’s Nest Hike

Highlights: Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), hot stone bath, home-cooked Bhutanese meal at a local farm stay

  • Embark on a hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), Bhutan's most iconic landmark perched dramatically on a cliffside. The hike offers stunning views and an intimate look at Bhutan’s spiritual heritage.

  • After your hike, unwind with a rejuvenating hot stone bath. A unique Bhutanese tradition perfect for relaxation after your hike up to Tiger's Nest.

  • End the day with a delicious home-cooked Bhutanese meal at a local farm stay. You can also request to try ara (or arag), a traditional Bhutanese alcoholic beverage.

Day 7: Departure from Paro
